The first night game of baseball was played in 1935 at Crosely field. The game was between the Cincinnati Red Stockings and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The first Baseball game on radio was the 1922 World Series. Regular season games weren't broadcast until the 1930's. The Cincinnati Reds played the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1939 the first game to be televised.

The 1947 World Series between the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers was the first World Series televised locally. The first nationally televised World Series was in 1971 between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles.

Ron Bloomberg of the New York Yankees was the first dedicated hitter in the American league in 1973.

Interleague play between the American and National Leagues during the regular season began in 1997. While many baseball purists frown upon the change, in many large metropolitan markets both leagues have seen attendance increases.
