Now many people believe baseball originated from cricket. Now Mom thinks this baseball is much closer to the game of rounders. In rounders you hit the ball with a bat and run around the bases. You can fly out and the runners can be tagged out running from base to base by being touched with the ball. Both Rounders and cricket came over from England in the 1800's but rounders has many more similarities to baseball.

Abner Doubleday is credited with inventing baseball. Now Mom wasn't there, but is pretty sure that's not entirely true. Baseball had been played for years before in many different styles and variations. What Doubleday did was popularize and promote the sport across the country.
