Clarity is second of the four C's. When diamonds are formed in the earth there are natural imperfections known as inclusions. The clarity grading of a diamond depends on the size, placement, color, and prominence of the inclusion. The value of a diamond is directly influenced by the number of inclusions. A completely flawless is extremely rare and priced to match.

As technology has advanced we have gained the ability to improve the clarity of a diamond. Sometimes this process is used the to correct or "improve" a lesser quality diamonds. Many of these treatments aren't permanent and they should be disclosed, but be sure to ask as well.
