Color is the First of the Four C's. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) set the standards for determining diamond color grades. The 'master set' of colors ranges from D through ZD, E, F - ColorlessG, H, I, J - Near colorlessK, L, M - Faint YellowN, O, P, Q, R - Very Light YellowS, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z - Light YellowTo the untrained professional most diamonds sold to the public will appear colorless. However a diamond that is rated as colorless by a trained gemologist is very rare and very expensive.While most people prefer clear or white diamonds there is a growing demand for colored diamonds. The colors range from pale yellow and pink to deep red and blue you can artificially treat a Diamond to enhance its color, but true colored diamonds are extremely rare and priced accordingly.
