Moms going to go over some things you may want to think about when you're buying a TV. Now make sure you pay attention because like I told you earlier it's not just about TV Size.

Connections

Try to figure out what components you are going to want to have in your home theater. In fact you may even want to make a list. Some advanced TV's allow them to act as the control unit for your home theater. Now mom doesn't think that's a good idea, a good audio video receiver will do a much better job. However you should make sure the TV has the proper connections you are going to need. If you are considering HDTV you will need an S-Video connection. Now if I were a grandmother I might want to come over to your house and watch some tapes of my grandkids. If you are going to be watching a lot of tapes made from a camcorder or other personal video device you are probably going to want inputs located in front of the TV. This will be much easier than rewiring your home theater.

Monitor or TV

Do you want a monitor or TV? If the unit has a built in TV tuner then it is a TV otherwise it is a monitor. The reason this is important is most monitors don't have built in sound capabilities. That's fine if it's going to be used for home theater use only, but won't work if you are going to use if for basic TV viewing. So if you are going to use it for casual viewing and don't want to turn on the sound system you should consider a Direct View TV.
