Closing on your Home

The closing is the end of the transaction where the buyer and seller exchange the title and money. Usually all real estate brokers and attorneys (for both buyers and sellers) are present, along with the actual buyers and sellers of the property. Paperwork is signed to transfer the title and any monies that were being held in escrow are paid out to the seller, along with any money from the mortgage company. At the end of the closing, the buyer is the new owner of the home.

Although selling a home can be a very stressful time, especially if the sale is due to financial issues or a death in the family, it can be made easier if you are aware of how the process works. Take time to learn what is involved with a sale and work with people you feel comfortable with. For most people, the sale or purchase of a home is the biggest financial transaction they will ever enter into. It is important to be prepared for the process.
