Using your Cell Phone - Gotta Ask Your MomAdvice and Information on the Internetgottaaskyourmom.comUsing your Cell PhoneYou are here: Home > How to buy a Cell Phone > Using your Cell Phone

Before you begin using your cell phone you should consider battery life. There are two major types of batteries, NIMH an LI-ION. NIMH, or Nickel Metal Hydride, batteries have a fairly large capacity. However the more powerful the battery is the larger and heavier it will become. LI-ION, or Lithium Ion, gives you about the same power as a NIMH battery. However the LI-ION batteries will weigh much less compared to NIMH batteries, and cost significantly more.

Batteries will generally have two ratings stand-by and talk time. Stand-by is time your phone is on but not in use. Talk time is obviously time you are talking on the phone, and uses more power than stand-by. Check to see if your phone has a removable battery. It is often more convenient to have a spare battery charging at home or the office and swap them on every day. Some phones also have a rapid charger, this can be a lifesaver if you've ever forgotten to recharge your phone.

With all of these facts in mind you can finally pick your phone. Choose one that is neither too big nor too small (have you ever had to fish for that tiny phone that looked so cute in the store in the bottom of your pocket book!). The phone should be comfortable in your hand and next to your face when you are talking on it. The buttons should be backlit and not so small or close together that you have trouble dialing.

There are also colors and decorative faceplates available. Now Mom's Been around the block a few times, and why anyone would want a cell phone to match their fendi bag is beyond me.
